Helicopter View of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles!

What a rare treat to be able to post original pictures from a birds eye view of the most famous castles in Germany!  If you follow my blog, you know that way back in February, we had a chance to visit the castles.  We got to go inside of Neuscwanstein, but had to save Hohenschwangau for another time.  Well, B gets to fly around in helicopters all day for his job so he had the unique opportunity to fly over the castles.  Of course I let him use my camera to take some great shots from the day.  These kind of views from the castle are pretty much impossible to get or see in person.  He was really excited about it.  There is some glare in the pictures because he had to take them from behind the window (was way too cold and fast to open up the windows) but I think they turned out great!  Here are the shots he was able to get:

In the second picture you can see both castles together.  The third picture is an aerial veiw of the top of Hohenschwangau!

  1. The castles are so magical looking, and it's so neat to see them from a different point of view. When I was abroad my roommates went to Neuscwanstein ... still so jealous, and bummed I missed out on experiencing that little real life fairy tale!

    1. Yes, it's definitely worth going back, there is so much to do in that area. I still need to see the inside of the Hohenschwangau Castle.

  15. I love that first picture! Your husband did an excellent job capturing the castles from above and how cools to see Bavaria Germany from the air. We were at Neuschwanstein this past summer so it's a treat to see these pictures and see how it looks covered with snow. We didn't make it inside the Hohenschwangau either.
