On the other hand, B doesn't even want to celebrate his birthday though I organize something for him each year. He thinks it's pointless to make a big deal about your birthday and I tend to agree...but, It's not like I'm that girl that goes around telling people over and over that it's my birthday or expects a bunch of presents. I just like to spend the whole month reflecting and scheduling trips for myself. Why not? It's a good excuse for me to travel and spend money on things I otherwise would have told myself to pass up on. I love the idea of reflecting on my previous year and seeing what I've accomplished... or haven't accomplished yet.
But the older I get the more I feel I should be doing. I feel like, "Why haven't I traveled more?" "Why haven't I become a CEO of a company or started my own business yet?" "Why am I not at my birthweight?" "Why can't I spend my entire paycheck on Amazon?" "Why do people keep asking me when I'm having kids?" "Why haven't I recorded a rock album yet (even though I'm not a musician)?" I know some of these are outright ridiculous, but I still think about them. I know I've accomplished a lot of things so far, but these dreams are so appealing. As we get older why do we tell everyone "we are turning 29 again?" Is that really helping anyone? Do you all think about these things on your birthday? Anyways Happy Birthday to me! And seriously, why haven't I traveled more? ;)
Happy Birthday Brittany! Good luck accomplishing everything you would like and enjoy your birthday month travels! Just like you I think about what I have and haven't accomplished each year. I guess I like to think of it as motivation (and travel planning) for the next year!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Ruth. I believe most of us (who passed 25 years) tending more to not to mention their age or sometimes hide the information od their birth dates because not matter what we have achieved we still urge to get more and more. We stand at the stage of not too big yet not too young so we believe we missed a lot of things but yet we want to get more. Last birthday I hid my birthdate from facebook because I believed it will hurt me to be at 27 years of age and still didn't gent things o wished to happen that year..
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY Brittany!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Happy birthday! I ask myself a lot of those things too...I turned 25 last year and felt "old" for the first time. Where is time going? Am I "on schedule"? It's weird. You've still got lots of time to travel though! LIve it up!! CONUS is way lamer haha
ReplyDeleteO no. I'm scared to go back CONUS. Especially since you never know if our tour will get cut short.
DeleteHappy happy birthday! Celebrating the whole month by planning trips definitely sounds like a great way to go! :)
ReplyDeleteHa, happy birthday dear! You've got a couch to crash on if you want to see Heidelberg! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Margo! So lucky to live in Heidelberg. I visited in December and loved it! Did a post about it too!
Deletehappy birthday darlin!! hope you have a absolutely wonderful day/week/month celebrating! ya know, in Croatia, it's customary to celebrate as many days as the year you are turning, so if you're turning, say 20, then you'd celebrate for 20 days. I use that when I want to drag my birthday out!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea. It makes you look forward to every birthday!
DeleteHave a great birthday (month)! I don't mind sharing how old I am because either people will think I'm younger (compliment!) or older (I know I am wiser than my age) or right on (nice!), so it's a compliment all around. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday friend! I'm so glad I met you in this crazy blogging world, and I hope you have a truly marvelous day, and eat some yummy treats!! Keep bloggin girl, love your posts!! xoxo Katie
ReplyDeleteSo awesome to meet you too Katie. Thanks!
DeleteHappy birthday! Hope you're enjoying your day.
ReplyDelete(And p.s.- I think about things like that all the time!)
Happy Birthday! I am celebrating my birthday later this week on the 27th. I'll be turning 34 years old. I actually love celebrating birthdays. It's kind of my New Year's Day. Everything resets. I get to look ahead at what I want to accomplish for the year and look back and celebrate all the great things that I did over the past twelve months. Plus everyone heaps attention your way, and don't we all need that now and again? So go out and enjoy your day and celebrate you! That's what birthdays are for. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, so true!
DeleteHappy birthday! It sounds like you are ahead of many your age in traveling so be proud of that accomplishment, and keep all your dreams in focus--the joy is in the journey and not the destination :)
ReplyDeleteSo true! I even have a bracelet that says "enjoy the journey."
Michael S.
Vielen Dank Michael!
DeleteHappy birthday, gorgeous!
